Game Development Press Release #1
by Jason ~ September 22nd, 2007. Filed under: Aporia Games, Aporia News.We are extremely excited about the upcoming game Aporia is currently developing. We have some amazing individuals working with us on this project, and the development is coming along nicely. So with my excitement I wanted to give out some information here and there to provoke a buzz (YaY! LOL).
First step is to release to you a codename for the project. This is difficult as I do not want the codename to give anything away. Therefore, we give you the Aporia Agathon Project. (Wow some of you went to google really quick, just a tip: Aporia + Agathon).
Now that you’re acquainted with the Agathon Project, I’ll go over some details regarding the game that can be discussed without giving away anything about the game as a whole:
1. The development for the Agathon project revolves around a particular user interface that is a unique experience for the players. This interface allows the players to immerse themselves and feel as though they are truly part of the game, and that the game is interacting with them through many levels. I’ll drop some more information about what the interface is or isn’t through future blogs, but rest assured we have our own expectations for this game to be a step above any other.
2. While some games are being tabbed chaotic fiction, immersive fiction, and other pretenses, this game is targeted as an Alternate Reality Game. The above mentioned user interface and other events through the game will support this labeling. Though all ARGs (in my honest opinion) are a form of immersive fiction, the achievements of the players will promote ARG to the fullest.
3. So you’ve heard this is going to be a long game? Yes it is! The concept used for the user interface (again mentioned above) has set a certain guideline for us in the length of time allowed for game play and even development. We’re looking at nearly two years from start to finish (that’s including development).
4. Grassroots vs. Sponsored. Currently this game does not have any corporate backing. Does this mean that it’s going to be poorly developed? Absolutely not. As mentioned in the first statement, we intend for this game to set itself apart from the crowd. Currently without corporate backing we have the ability to develop this game without any restrictions of what can or cannot be done (not including financial restrictions). Financially we’re restricted to volunteer workers and actors, but we’ve really been able to put together a decent team and we don’t see any hindrances when it comes time to gathering the actors. We do intend to seek sponsorships, advertisers, and other self-sustaining means of generating revenue to ease any of those financial burdens as well.
That is all that I can say for now. I hope each and every one of you will play our game and enjoy it as much as we think you will.
Remember to keep track of the development here through our news blogs, and you will be rewarded when it comes time to begin rolling out the launch of the game.
Clues in this post: 0 - we’re not going to direct you to the game yet
Advertising/Sponsorship opportunities: Get in now on a game that we’re sure will be talked about throughout the lifespan of our gamers, and the genre as a whole. E-mail Jason@aporiacme.com for more information regarding these opportunities or any media requests for this game.
