Sitting down with the one and only RedHatty

by Jason ~ April 30th, 2008

Welcome to the Player Question and Answer session we began arranging last week. If you recall, we allowed our audience to send in questions and then we would chose someone to interview us. To those of you who submitted questions we thank you for your submissions and we’ve answered a few of them for you.

The individual who sat down with us for our Q&A is pretty well known in the ARG community, her name: RedHatty.

So if you want to know our answer to questions such as:

When will “Summer” start?
How do you all like working on this project?

Then keep reading. Continue reading »

Still getting closer and closer

by Jason ~ April 28th, 2008

With another week down we’ve introduced a new character and website (that is not hosted on GoDaddy by the way) to the audience of the Aporia Agathon Project. Some things are coming together well for the audience to further understand the nature of the characters and the story they’ll soon be faced with. We will admit that the website itself isn’t quite so easy to find, but if someone finds the one parked on godaddy, then they’re close and just a letter or symbol away(Google hasn’t been too friendly to us on these sites yet).

Coming this week we’ll be sitting down with one of our audience members for a player interview of the staff here at Aporia Cross-Media Entertainment. We’re looking forward to it.

Another note for those playing OLP - if you haven’t noticed, the story revolves solely around player responses. The conclusion isn’t too far away though and we hope you enjoy the little diversion.

How do you promote an ARG people know is coming?

by Jason ~ April 23rd, 2008

Our approach with this game, the Aporia Agathon Project, is different from many other games. We’ve been generating hype prior to the launch of the game through various teasers and story backfills we’ve released publicly. So what better way to further promote the game than to build another ARG for it?

This allows us to warm up on some of the things we’ll be doing (checking mail daily and responding), and hopefully allow players a little fun distraction for the time-being. We can’t really claim anonymity for this game as it was discovered through a blog post here on our news feed. With that, we proudly introduce Our Lost Puppy as the next game from Aporia Cross-Media Entertainment. Think of it as a short rather than a complete game as we don’t have the ability to create some of the really interesting we normally try to create, but so far it’s a little fun story (fun for me anyway).

On a side note: Our Lost Puppy is not related to the Aporia Agathon Project in any way other than the fact that many of the players suggested Aporia Agathon was about werewolves, so we turned that into an interesting little story as a means of showing our respect and appreciation for the thoughts offered up by these community members.

Take care and best of lucking helping to find Our Lost Puppy and remember that there’s still more teaser stuff coming out in relation to the Aporia Agathon Project.

You too can have some fun

by Jason ~ April 21st, 2008

We’ve done a few fun things in the past, such as the Aporia Agathon Project challenge, and some tutorials to help get everyone ready for the upcoming game. We’ve released teasers related to the back story of the game, again to get everyone ready. So where do we go next with all the other things we’ve got planned before launch?

We launch a mini-game!

Site upgrade complete

by Jason ~ April 19th, 2008

We’ve successfully upgraded from our newly upgraded version of wordpress to the most recent version of wordpress (version 2.5). We had a hitch or two in our giddy up as we did so, but nothing we weren’t able to iron out. Standby for yet another theme upgrade as our current theme is not compliant with 2.5 (though it does seem to work).

Update: We’ve modified the theme to comply with 2.5 (we guess). Some more minor changes may be coming soon.

Folding the wish

by Jason ~ April 18th, 2008

We understand that many of our readers have traversed here from Unfiction or have read about our work and our project from ARGN. Some of you have come from other places when you heard about the Aporia Agathon Project from a friend. Some of you may have already read today’s article by Michelle Senderhauf “ A Call for Help: Folding the Wish” if not click on it and read, I will highlight a bit of it here:

One of our community, Dave Szulborski, has taken ill. The community has begun a project of folding paper cranes to send to him. According to the post and a link to wikipedia, anyone who receives 1000 paper cranes is granted a wish. Michelle pointed out that the community has been working furiously folding the cranes and I too will begin soon. We need your help though with it, so won’t you join us?

You too can find & solve puzzles

by Jason ~ April 17th, 2008

Not every puzzle within a game comes directly to you in and e-mail or is hidden in the source code of a page. Sometimes they’re not even in the most obvious of places or if they are they may not appear to be a puzzle at all. Sometimes these puzzles go unnoticed by even the most hardcore of the players, but will you be the one that finds it and/or figures it out?

During Ny Takma we had several puzzles from an extinct language that was a mask for a word for word cipher, to simple binary codes, and even one imagery puzzle that players didn’t understand was a puzzle. In many of the grassroots ARGs being thrown to players today there are many puzzles that are made with simple binary, hex, morse, and ceaser codings. These aren’t really that difficult for the trained ARG-o-naut, they are in my opinion a minor distraction for them.

Player Profile: Derek

by Jason ~ April 15th, 2008

For the past couple of weeks we have been randomly selecting players who have signed up to receive information for the Aporia Agathon Project to profile with a short interview. This week we took the random out and decided we would target one of the players who has been very active in the discussions regarding this project.

He was one of the recipients of the masks we sent out that were covered by ARGN. Interested in finding out more about our friend Derek?
